Town of Mt. Pleasant Dept of Rec. Hosted The 1st 2021 Indoor Pickleball Tournament Post COVID in Charleston, South Carolina.
For the folks to who know me, Michael C. Fischbach, I love to play pickleball. Pickleball happens to be one of the fastest growing sport in and around the Charleston area. I was delighted when my company, Medicare Savings, could setup a local fundraiser and luggage drive for Pinelands Group Home in Summerville, SC while supporting the local pickleball community. On April 24-25 of 2021 the Town of Mt. Pleasent(Dept of Rec) hosted their annual indoor pickleball tournament renamed in honor of Al-Bradshaw, a long time local pickleball enthusiast and advocate. If you are interested in playing pickleball near you go to places2play.org. Town of Mt. Pleasant Pickleball video & link below.
Like many activities this PB tournament was postponed in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. The main reason I wanted to support this tournament is because the local pickleball community has been so supportive of helping with foster care luggage. We started collecting luggage prior to the beginning of the 2020 pandemic. Within a few days I had over 21 pieces of luggage in my house. After a few short months Pinelands Group Home was in need of more for their teens. If you have older used luggage don't throw them away. South Carolina foster teens, kids and toddlers often come into foster care with only a trash bag or box of their belongings. To find out more contact your local foster care agency. If you live in or around the Charleston area please click the links below to join our groups to donate luggage or help with Foster Care PB programs.
